Abilities


Force Vision: Darth Sidious possessed a superior intellect, had a cunning understanding of the Human mind, and was skilled in the use of the Force in foreseeing the future, so he could manipulate events as though he were a dejarik grandmaster moving pieces on a board.

Sidious had a broad expertise in areas such as psychology, bureaucracy, and philosophy, and was known for enjoying the power he wielded with simple mind games.

Mask: The dark side energies flowing through his body were so intense that they ravaged his mortal frame, leaving him with the appearance of a gnarled, ancient man with pale skin, searing, sickly yellow eyes. He wore a heavy dark cloak, and carried a glossy black cane, leaning heavily on it, creating an illusion of weakness.

Master Lightsaber Combatant: In truth, Darth Sidious was an enormously talented fighter, with great expertise in lightsaber combat. Thanks to his tremendous skill, he killed Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin each with a single blow, and Kit Fisto moments later. He also managed to fight Yoda to a draw in a lightsaber duel later on. Many years later, Palpatine, in one of his clone bodies, engaged and defeated Luke in a one-on-one lightsaber duel in his clone labs on Byss. He was ambidextrous and could change his fighting style at a whim—keeping his opponents unsure as to his next move. A "master of every weapon and every style," Sidious drew his opponents in, fighting less than his true capability, and then striking the fatal blow when his opponent thought they had the better of him.

Force Lightning/Force Storm: In addition to his fighting skills, Sidious was a master practitioner of Force lightning, and the only known practitioner of the Force Storm.

Telekinesis: His skills in telekinesis were such that he was able to simultaneously levitate several Senate pods, including the one he was standing on, with incredible dexterity and precision, considering their size and weight.

Force Flight: Seeing as how he could lift himself in the air with the Force, it can be assumed that Darth Sidious also was a master of Force Flight.
